Not all messages are created equal! At times, certain information, or a link to an outside tool, or a specific document may deserver a little more prominence or permanence.
Introducing Pinned messages!
If you need to ensure that members of a group see an important message, you can select a message and pin it to the top of the chat. Simply tap a message on mobile, or hover over it on web/desktop, and select “Pin.” To keep the pinned message relevant, you’ll be prompted to choose an expiration date for the pin. A banner will appear at the top of the chat, showing a short preview of the message. Tap it to view the full message and additional information about the pin, such as who pinned it and when the pin expires.
By default, only group owners can pin or unpin messages, but you can adjust this in Group Settings by clicking into Permissions to allow anyone in the group to pin.
Any group member can hide the pinned message just for themselves by tapping the “x” button on the right-hand side of the pinned message banner. If a new message is pinned, the banner will automatically reappear for all group members. If a user hides the pinned message banner they can always access the currently pinned message from the shortcuts menu.
Other notes:
DM chats also support pinned messages. Any member of the DM can pin or unpin a message.
Only user-created messages can be pinned. System messages cannot be pinned.
There is no feature flag for Pinned Messages; it will be enabled for all organizations.
If the user who pinned a message leaves the chat, the message will remain pinned.
Additional Features:
We have also deployed updates to our Public API to include the ability to send Images through the API in a messaging API.
Additionally, we have introduced a new High Contrast view of Pronto for those who may struggle with the light colors of the Pronto app. You can click on the settings of either the desktop or browser app and select the "Appearance" option. From there, select the High option under Contrast.
