If your organization discusses potentially sensitive content in Pronto, such as employment information, student records, or other info that should remain private, you can enable screenshot blocking. When enabled, user-generated content such as messages, announcements, tasks, meetings, and media will be hidden in screenshots and screen recordings.

Screenshot blocking is limited to the Pronto iOS and Android mobile apps.

It’s important to be aware of the limitations of this feature. While screenshot blocking prevents casual screenshotting, a determined user can still use a second device to take a picture of the screen content. In addition, a user that jailbreaks or roots their device may be able to bypass this feature.

Enabling Screenshot Blocking

On web or desktop, open the Manage Organization option through the menu, and navigate to the Roles and Permissions screen. There you will find a permission called "Take screenshots in mobile apps”. By default, all users can take screenshots. You can limit this to only admins or managers by deselecting the appropriate checkboxes.

How It Works

In addition to blocking standard screenshot images, screen recordings and screen sharing are also blocked when this feature is enabled.

The screenshot blocking experience itself varies by platform.

iOS

On iOS 17 and later, user-generated content is selectively hidden in screenshots when blocking is enabled. This allows for users to still take screenshots for support purposes while omitting potentially sensitive content.

When a user takes a screenshot or a screen recording, some content will be hidden and a notification will appear to inform the user. The example below shows the difference in content when screenshots are allowed vs. when they are blocked.

On versions earlier than iOS 17, the entire app is hidden in screenshots.

Android

On Android, when screenshot blocking is enabled and user takes a screenshot, they are prevented from doing so by the operating system and will see a small alert like this (note that actual wording may vary from device to device). The app will appear blank in screen recordings and screen sharing.
