When your team is on the move, knowing where work is happening matters. Whether it’s confirming a job site, coordinating logistics, or keeping team members safe, real-time location visibility can make all the difference.
With Pronto’s Location Stamping, messages can now include up-to-date location data—giving you instant context without extra check-ins or calls.
Location Stamping is a premium feature designed to support advanced use cases and does include additional cost. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to learn more about pricing and availability.
Authorization
When Location Tagging is enabled for an organization, mobile users will be presented with an introductory screen, followed by a system prompt for location access. It is recommended that users select “Allow While Using App” for the most seamless location tagging experience.
Users can disable Location Tagging on their device in two ways:
Users can disallow access to location services by selecting “Don’t Allow” in the location authorization prompt. This will disable Location Tagging on that device until the user allows access through their system settings.
Users can explicitly turn off the Location Tagging feature in their Pronto user settings. Access this by tapping the gear icon in the chats list:
Sending Messages
Users always know when location is going to be included with a message by the presence of a location pin on the send button.
This send icon is shown whenever location will be included.
The text of a location-tagged message may be edited like any other message, but the location cannot be changed or removed after it has been sent.
Viewing Location
Once a message has been tagged with a location, any user in the organization can view it. Tagged locations appear as an embedded map, and a location pin in the message header indicates that a message has a location tag.
To view the tagged location on mobile, tap on a message. On web, hover over a message to see the message toolbar then click the location icon. The embedded map view will show the location of the user at the time that message was sent. The address of the location will be shown below the map. Because Pronto uses mapping services to look up the address, this may vary between clients and may not always be accurate.
A blue circle indicates the horizontal accuracy of the location. This will appear much larger for users that have not enabled precise location on their device.
Tapping or clicking the map will open that location in your device's default maps app.
Send Without Location
If you have location tagging enabled, but want to send a particular message without location, you can long-press the send icon and get an option to send that particular message without location.
Unverified Location
When you see "Unverified Location" below a location on the map, it means Pronto couldn't confirm that the location was reported by an authentic Pronto app. Pronto uses security services provided by Apple and Google to verify that location data comes from a genuine app running on an unmodified device. When this verification can't be completed, the location is marked as unverified. The location shown may still be accurate—it just means Pronto wasn't able to complete its usual verification checks.
Common causes include:
Network connectivity issues on the device
The device couldn't reach the services Pronto uses for verification
The device is running an older operating system version
Device security settings have been modified (for example, a jailbroken iPhone or rooted Android phone)
Less common causes:
The location was intentionally altered using third-party tools
What should I do?
In most cases, an unverified location is still accurate—it just means the extra layer of verification didn't complete. If you see this warning frequently for the same person and have concerns, it may be worth discussing with them directly.
