If you'd like to get someone's attention in a group chat or direct message, you can type the @ symbol followed by any part of their name. This will display the @mention pop-up displaying people with that name. Select the person to add their @mention to the chat message. You can also skip the @ symbol and begin typing any part of their name to display the same pop-up.

If you do this, not only will their name be highlighted in the chat history, but they will receive a notification immediately. In a group, you can also use @everyone to send a notification to everyone in the group.

@mention color highlights will also be specific to the person. The person receiving the @mention and including the @everyone will display with a yellow highlight. All other @mentions pertaining to other people will appear in blue.

On a mobile device, when a direct @mention is used, a notification is sent to the person, and a Call Bell icon will appear followed by the person’s name who sent the @mention.

Likewise, if the @everyone is used, then a notification will be sent to everyone and a Megaphone icon will appear followed by the person’s name who sent the @everyone.
